    Frequently Asked Questions

We have 4 centres across the UK. All theoretical teaching is done centrally in Leicester. Live Patient surgery can be done in each of the 4 centres located in either Leeds, Leicester, London or Sandbach. You will be assigned a mentor based on your geographical location. Our delegates have attended from as far north as the Scottish borders down to the south coast of England.
Absolutely not! We teach holistic treatment planning, not just planning solely focused on implant treatment. Our modules include case selection, planning and occlusion and this can be applied to any case, implant or non-implant related. The sooner you get into the surgical aspect of dentistry, the more confidence you will gain in this field which will set you up for a more diverse career ahead.
Our Post Graduate Certificate course has been designed for dentists with little or no surgical experience. We will guide you through all aspects of surgery including flap design, handling of surgical instruments and suturing techniques. The first 3 days of the course are focused on surgical planning with practicals on oral surgery on dummy soft tissue models. Your cases on live patients will be mentored, a tutor will be with you every step of the way.
Very much so! Our focus is hands on. We are 4 wet fingered implant dentists and the course is centred around live hands on treatment, both surgery and restoration. The initial treatment planning days all involve hands on surgery practicals. There is a CBCT treatment planning exercise and practicals on laboratory models to teach you how to restore implants. You will then be ready to place implants live and then subsequently restore the same cases once Osseointegrated.
We strongly encourage you to bring your own patients to the course. We can provide patients, however the learning experience from treatment planning, through to surgery, and then finally restoration, is much more valuable if you source your own implant cases. An important aspect of the course if teaching you how to find Implant patients in your own clinic and which cases are suitable for implant treatment. If patients are simply provided for you, the critical aspect of understanding correct patient selection is usually not grasped. We will help treatment plan all your cases, and help you understand which cases are suitable for the course.
During the Level 7 Certificate Course, you will complete a minimum of 5 cases from start to finish. The live patient modules are not time limited, so we will ensure you complete 5 cases, however long it takes to get suitable patients. Unlike other courses, there is no additional mentoring fee for the duration of the course. We understand some delegates will be able to find implant cases very quickly, some may take a little longer. 5 cases is a minimum number, our delegates have each sourced more than 5 cases.
The Post Graduate Certificate course is designed to teach simple implant placements. Naturally some cases will require some element of bone augmentation or sinus lifting. If, however you are looking for a course specifically centred around more complex procedures, then please have a look at our Post Graduate Diploma course centred around complex cases.
Level 7 accreditation, awarded by Eduqual, means our programme has been accredited as a masters level qualification. You will be awarded an official level 7 post graduate certificate upon completion of the course by Eduqual. Completion of this course, along with our second programme in Advanced implant surgery (the Post graduate Diploma course) will give you credits towards an MSc qualification. We are currently finalising these details with a reputable university and details of this qualification will be available shortly.
All educational materials and refreshments are included in the course fee. This includes all surgical drapes, models, instruments and components used in the hands on practical. Patients will pay a fee for their implant treatment and this will cover all costs for their treatment including the CBCT scan, the surgical stent, surgical drapes the implant and the final restorative components, There are no additional costs to you.
The patient fee will depend on the number of implants and specific procedure required. Typically, there will be a discounted fee for the patient on the course. The fee usually includes the CBCT scan, the surgical stent, all implant components and surgery consumables. A detailed patient fee structure will be distributed at the beginning of the course.
We currently use Sweden & Martina. However, we teach all aspects and protocols of implantology that can be applied to any system. We have over 100 years of combined surgical experience between our mentors with experience using Straumann, Nobel Biocare, Biomet 3i, Ankylos and many more.
The course is based over 12 modules. However, if you need more days allocated for live patient surgery (for example, you manage to source more than 5 implant cases), the additional days are added onto the course at no extra charge. The course counts towards 72 hours of eCPD

Yes, the course counts towards 72 hours of eCPD.

You will need to bring a laptop for the CBCT planning exercise and scrubs for the surgical live patient days. Sterile drapes, implant kits, surgical instruments, implants and all components will be provided.
To enable you to treat live patients here in the UK, yes you must be registered with the GDC. You can however attend if you are from outside the UK and can provide proof of your professional registration in your country. However, you will be observing surgery only and will not be awarded a full Post Graduate qualification.
